What
is BestBETs?
Best BETS
(Best Evidence Topics) is a free online database of evidence-based answers to
clinical questions. Users can either
browse the database by title or topic, or search using their own terms. A typical BET will have a structured three
part question, a clinical scenario, search strategy, search outcome and
relevant papers (if any) and a clinical bottom line. BETs are given a
colored symbol to represent their status such as complete, submitted but not
checked, new on the database etc.
C
What
does BestBETs cover?
Although BestBETs
began in emergency medicine, it’s coverage is now
extending into other areas such as cardiothoracics,
nursing, primary care and pediatrics.
C
How
do I access BestBETs?
BestBETs is freely available via the World
Wide Web at: http://www.bestbets.org/index.html
C
What
additional features does BestBETs have?
Some BBs contain
papers which have been critically appraised; a link takes you to the
appraisal. Critical appraisal checklists
are also available as downloads, as are worksheets for people who want to
submit a BET of their own. Users can sign up to be members and to receive a
regular newsletter.
