TARGET AUDIENCE:

Internists, emergency medicine physicians and medical librarians will benefit. While some computer skills and some knowledge of evidence-based medicine will be useful, they are not necessary to gain from this session.

OBJECTIVES:

  1. To gain familiarity with state-of–the-art evidence-based databases and other resources available to support clinical practice.
  2. To understand how to assess the validity of the answers found to clinical questions.
  3. To explore evidence-based alternative and complementary medicine resources in order to deal more effectively with patients’ interests in such modalities.
  4. To learn where to access reliable, non-drug company patient education "handouts".
  5. To be updated on evidence-based data bases available for handheld computers.
