The American College of Physicians/New York Chapter Committee on Evidence-based Medicine and The New York Academy of Medicine are pleased to announce the Third Annual Course on Teaching Evidence-based Medicine, which will be held at The New York Academy of Medicine beginning the evening of October 5th and daily, October 6th through 8th. At the conclusion of the program, registrants will be able to:

  • Formulate a searchable clinical question.
  • Identify and gain experience with EBM resources to assist in answering questions efficiently.
  • Evaluate the validity of evidence.
  • Teach EBM in morning report, ward rounds, journal clubs, and during physical diagnosis.
  • Use the best evidence in clinical decisions.



Who should attend?

The course is open to faculty in internal medicine and emergency medicine residency programs and medical librarians in New York State. The course is an intensive 3½ day seminar, consisting of small group workshops, large group sessions, and the opportunity for hands-on practice with evidence-based electronic products, including MEDLINE, The Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, Best Evidence, UpToDate, and MDConsult.



Programs in New York State are encouraged to register from one to six participants. Preference will be given to those institutions that send more than one participant.



Registration for the program is $500 per physician; $325 per librarian.
